^Thank you KENARIS Salon for the wonderful job with my hair!

The hair sponsor for SCORE gave my hair the treatment it needed - a coloring job (lavender brown), treatment & a trim). I absolutely love it! It's a tad darker than my previous hair color but it is exactly what I had in mind. Thank you Ken & Aris!

I’m still here!

Aloha.

I haven't been blogging daily, as much as I wanted to because I have been quite busy and when I get home all I want to do is sleep... :-(

So today I had a workshop with Jibby at Peggy's place to improve on our reading skills as tv hosts. After which, we went to Chinatown for lunch and then I went home and hung out until I had to go to a casting. I haven't worn my bikini and go to the beach in SO LONG! The thing about the "modeling industry" here is that they seem to like fair skin... I wonder why? But no way am I going to slab on any moisturizer that claims to whiten your skin. I kinda like being dark. What do you think?

So a few of you have requested some work out routines, diet & beauty stuff which I WOULD LOVE to share. I'll make sure I'll write an article on that next!

I know I probably shouldn't influence you all who want to get into shape but I've been eating the best pizza and it's almost a sin if I didn't share... So, just remember, in MODERATION. I love pizza but I only had one slice. Anyway, check out  SARPINOS!

My favorite is the gourmet pizza... Ranch Style Chicken with yogurt. It's so delicious! And if you order one gourmet pizza, you get the 2nd one for half the price. They also have buy-one-get-one free pizzas! It TASTES like HEAVEN. So go treat yourself if you've been good ;-)

Filming…..

Another day of filming for SCORE. The show is really coming together! Looking at the photo from the yoga scene, I realized that maybe it's time for me to invest in a treadmill. For home. Really. What do you think? Running outdoors is causing some serious unwanted tanlines!

The Sugar Detox

THE SUGAR DETOX

The Sugar Detox

I know, I know, these two words don't sound very appealing when put together. But I promise, cutting back on the refined white stuff could do us all some good. Ditching some of the sugary foods we've grown accustomed to could have all kinds of health benefits.

I wished I were easy to kick sugar completely out of your life but it is not. The fact is that sugar is an addiction - as real as addictions to cigarettes, alcohol or even drugs. This means that you should be prepared for sometimes-intense cravings every time you try to stop sugar.

Let's begin.

Remove ALL TEMPTATIONS: Even the strongest addict wouldn't try to quit their addiction and then keep it within arm's reach. There are foods you can ignore with no problems but there are others that will actually call out your name - tempting you to eat them: get rid of these. While you can't do anything about the multitude of sugar temptations you walk or drive by every day, get rid of the ones within close reach: your fridge, your bedside table, your work desk, and yes, your car.

IDENTIFY your KILLER cravings: You probably have one, maybe more, go-to source of sugar. Whether it's hot chocolate, candy bars, bookies, Ben & Jerry Ice-Cream (that's my kryptonite)... be honest about what your killer cravings are get ready to bolster your willpower. Cravings WILL HAUNT you when you try to stay away from sugar. It's important to know what these foods actually are.

Eat FRUITS & NUTS: Fruits can often easily satisfy that sweet craving and most fruits don't increase your blood sugar that much. A handful of nuts will also do the same.

Take note of these BELLY-FLATTENING NUTS:

Sunflower Seeds - Packed with B vitamins, which play an important role in protection against inflammation. They are also an excellent source of Vitamin E. It's also great for curbing hunger.

Almonds - The MUFAs and vitamin E in almonds work together to cut cholesterol. Almonds are also a great source of vegetable protein and fiber.

Macadamia Nuts - Eating nuts and seeds can yield heart-health benefits. Macadamia nuts also contain fiber to hep with digestion and a small amount of trace mineral selenium, an antioxidant that some studies may help prevent cancer.

Pistachios - Pistachios contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids that help protect against age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in the elderly. They may also help improve cholesterol levels.

DON'T STRESS too much about "added-sugar" in foods: Most of the foods we eat contain sugar and keeping them all of your diet can drive some people crazy. If you aren't ready to completely take all sugars out of our life, FOCUS of the most sugary of them like SODA, CAKE, CEREAL and other sugary snacks. The added sugars can be a problem but focusing on these foods will eliminate a large percentage of sugars in your diet.

Soy Milk vs Milk

Silk Soy Milk

Soy milk is different from regular milk in that it is derived from plants. It is created by soaking soybeans, and then grinding the beans and the water together. It can be purchased from stores or made at home with the help of a soy milk machine. Regular milk, on the other hand, is extruded from the udders of animals, with cows being the most common animal used. Since soy milk is made from plants, it is safe for individuals who are lactose intolerant.

Soy milk and regular milk are both good sources of protein, with both providing equivalent portions. Soy milk does not, however, provide nearly the amount of calcium as regular milk. In addition, certain vitamins such as vitamin B12 are artificially added to soy milk.

There are several benefits to drinking soy milk instead of regular milk. First of all, soy milk contains phytochemicals, which help reduce the risk of developing cancer. Unlike regular milk, soy milk does not contain hormones, antibiotics, cholesterol, or saturated fat. Each of these components has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes, cancer, and other deadly diseases.

Soy milk is also believed to help reduce cholesterol levels and to help control the blood sugar levels of diabetics. In addition, it is an excellent source of lecithin and vitamin E, which helps keep the skin healthy, clear, and strong. It also contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which have been shown to be good for the heart. In fact, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has said that 25 grams of soy protein each day helps reduce the risk of developing heart disease when combined with a low fat, low cholesterol diet. Drinking four cups of soy milk per day ensures this amount of soy protein is consumed.

Some people may find that soy milk tastes too sweet, so go for the "no sugar added" option. My choice of soy milk would be SILK Vanilla Soy Milk. It tastes light and good and absolutely yummy. I also find that it helps with the sinus problems I get from drinking regular milk or having some ice-cream.
