Night Gone Wrong

Advertorial

I need a new camera! I'm pretty disappointed with the photos I took the other night at CLEO magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors party at Zirca. Most of the photos came out grainy because of low-light conditions (this is usually the norm when you take photos in the club) and I really wished I had been able to record videos in full high definition. I didn't realize how bad the quality of the video was until I uploaded it online.

When it comes to technology (amongst other things such as your body), size DOES matter. Ladies, leave the heavy-lifting for the gym or lugging your shopping bags and try going out without a bag. Bring a small purse instead. I can never understand chicks who take all their make-up and other knick-knacks (such as a sewing kit?) everywhere they go. Even worse, I find it shameful for a girl to expect a guy to carry her purse for her. It is not cute! When I go out partying, I'd usually take these few items with me: iPhone, digital camera, lipgloss, pressed powder, travel-sized body spray, a credit card & cash. Honestly, that's all you'll really need. If my phone's camera and video function was better, I'd even make do without a digital camera.

Guys are so lucky they can put everything in their pockets. They don't wear dresses or skirts and they don't have to worry so much about getting their bag stolen or forgotten about if the night went on for longer than planned. I'm planning on getting the new SONY Cyber-shot I was actually part of a little photo shoot for this campaign. You can see my photos on the site. Believe it or not, they actually used the SONY Cyber-shot TX-7 camera for the whole shoot! I was half-expecting them to use a real DSLR camera. The photos turned out excellent though!

Check these out:This was taken at a club. Looks professional, right?

This function is called the 'Intelligent Sweep Panorama'. Simply sweep your camera horizontally you were taking a video and it will come out as a panorama shot like this! You don't need to manually stitch your photos together anymore. It just comes out like this. Intelligent indeed. Would be great for people who like taking scenery shots. Yup, it'd be be perfect for when I'm watching the sunset in some of the most beautiful beaches in the world!

I LOVE WIDE ANGLE LENS! The SONY Cyber-shot TX7 camera comes with 25mm wide angle lens which makes it perfect for people like me, who like taking self-portraits. Getting someone to take your picture for you can get too boring and 'posed'. I prefer standing still in a moment and capturing the moment myself sometimes. This picture is TOP QUALITY! It's clear that I've made my decision...

Perhaps it's time to go touchscreen with my digital camera too (you know I'm an iPhone lover)!

I'm going to take part in both the contests on the SONY Cyber-shot TX7 website to try my luck and see if I can win myself a camera!

Unravel The Night contest: This game was so easy. Basically you're supposed to look for 4 scenes in a club and capture it. Be quick because you're being timed! I failed to capture the citylights and got a score of 5172 :( Try it and share your scores!

Night Gone Wrong contest: This one's easy as pie too. Just upload a photo that was ruined by bad lighting and describe how your night was ruined by the bad photo!

I have too many 'nights gone wrong'. Here's one:Taken at the Fullerton suite where my friends and I celebrated New Year's Day watching the fireworks. I love fireworks! It was so hard and almost impossible to take a good shot of the fireworks. Either that or I just didn't know how to make full use of my camera functions. I even tried using the 'Fireworks Mode' but it came out blurry! Like I said, I prefer taking photos of myself standing in front of an interesting backdrop but it didn't help that using 'Fireworks Mode' meant that I couldn't use Flash and not using the camera flash usually means your photos will come out blurry unless you have super steady hands! I was so frustrated with camera I was so tempted to throw it onto the floor and watch it break to pieces.

I want the SONY Cyber-shot TX7! It's so much slimmer and sexier...

I definitely want this in red!

Wake Up, Get Up, Do It Now

Wake up. Get out of bed and stop hiding under the duvet, no matter how warm it is. You will get nothing accomplished. Put some clothes on. Do something nice for yourself today. Be pretty for absolutely no reason other than to prove to yourself that you're not worthless and sloven. Buy yourself your favorite burrito, and make sure you get extra guacamole. Spend the extra money on your favorite art magazine and plan a trip to the paradise in your head. Sing your favorite songs in your car. Make a pit stop to the reservoir. Collect the last leaves from autumn. Watch the sun sink into the horizon. Don't sit. Don't wait. Don't look at the time that you've always set to three hours behind. Don't delay your life even though someone has attempted to delay yours.

Muay Thai at Hilltop

After Muay Thai class, trying out the secondary camera (the one above the screen, where you can see yourself) of my Nokia X6...

I like that I can see myself on the screen while recording the video so I am aware of the angle of the camera but the quality isn't that great. The primary camera is much better.

This was taken with the main camera:

(Don't laugh, I'm still a newbie) There's a lot more to kicking that punching bag than you think.

A photo I took with my Nokia X6 camera:

Compare it to this one, taken with my iPhone...

Higher resolution but colors aren't as saturated as the one taken with my iPhone. iPhone takes very grainy photos in low-light conditions.

What do you think?

NOKIA X6 – COMES WITH MUSIC

Advertorial

Nokia has always been my favorite mobile brand since it was the first phone I ever used after I ditched my beeper/pager (anyone remember those?) a little less than 10 years ago.

When it comes to physical appearance, most women (and men) would prefer to have a toned and slim figure. The same rule applies to mobile phones - the slimmer, the better. Nobody wants to be seen holding a brick to their ear. Gone are those days.

Technology has come a long way indeed. We didn't used to have a color display on our mobile screen and used .midi song files as our ringtones. Now, we have everything to be thankful for as the Nokia X6 is everything you want in a phone and more.

Free music? Check.
Unlimited downloads of over a million free songs for a year? Check.
A 5-megapixel camera with flash? Check.
Direct link and access to social network websites such as Facebook & Twitter? Check!

My only comment about the packaging is - I wished it came in a smaller, more compact box.

All the goodies you'll find in the box. I was so surprised to find that Nokia has thrown in a headset instead of the usual earphones, I love it! Sound quality is great on the the Nokia X6 but sounds a little off when I plug it into my iPhone. It's comfortable nonetheless, helps that it doesn't come off as easily as the ear phones when I'm running around actively at the gym.

I am impressed with the photo quality of this little phone and video recording that allows you to use the flash as a video light (Apple, are you reading this?)

Who loves buffets? With the Nokia X6 all-you-can-eat music offer, you can download unlimited music onto your phone and PC for a whole year and still get to keep it when the subscription ends. How is THAT for a satisfying buffet of over a million songs that you can download onto the cavernous 32gb of onboard storage?

Be your own DJ and create a playlist based on your moods or on a preselected song!
Perfect for the gym!

Slide the mood level (Yellow - A smiley face for Joy, Red - A heart for passion, Purple - Thunder for anger and Blue is for level of tempo.)

My phone was preloaded with music (doh!) and ALL 12 WERE GOOD! I was quite surprised that I didn't know most of the tracks that came with the phone.

Some song the NOKIA X6 came with which you may want to give a listen:

Marc Ferrari, Josh Kessler, Chad Gendason - Where You Are << More of a Trance track, I love the female vocals on this one.

Atmosphere - Work Ya Body << Such a gym track. Perfect for when you're doing aerobics!

Lee Dodson, Gareth Owen, Euan Rodger, Stuart Turner - Don't Wanna Go Home << Pop/Rock. Kinda sounds like Green Day. I wonder if these guys have a band name?
Marc Ferrari, David Feldstein - Invisible << Alternative/rock. Reminded me of Matchbox 20.

The best part is; all the songs are organized with album artwork! I love that.

LOVE YOUR MUSIC, LOVE THE NOKIA X6!

Listening to my favorite song

Running' by No Doubt

He whispers in her ear and she laughs at his silly jokes, even if they're pointless. He grabs her hand and doesn't let go. He has no idea how happy it makes her. She rests her head on his shoulder; closes her eyes, listening to their song as he kisses her forehead. She memorizes the touch of his lips. She doesn't want to leave anytime soon. It's three in the morning, and they're still tangled up in each other. She knows he's something special.

She was strong, but he was her Achilles’ heel.

Celebrate Priceless Moments – FEVO Photo Contest

Advertorial

The FEVO Photo Contest is a year-long celebration of the different seasons in our life. The theme for the different seasons changes periodically and this season, the spotlight is on those priceless moments that you hold dear to your heart.

You don't need to use a fancy picture of you from a photo shoot, neither do you need to come up with a fancy card design, it's ALL in a picture of a moment captured in time.

So, what's a 'Priceless Moment'? It could be the first time you rode a horse or a picture of your mom when she was 15. Here are some of my priceless moments...

This was taken 2 years ago in Bali when my girl friends and I were in Bali. We just had our last dinner together before we had to fly back to Singapore the next day and took the chance we had to make love to the camera. Check out all the different expressions we had on our faces! Now THAT'S PRICELESS!

Yup, I was standing on an active volcano in Guatemala. How many people you know have done that? It was my first time backpacking and traveling to Central America - an experience I'll never forget.

I was going through a difficult transition in my life and this photo was taken just after a heart-to-heart talk with my girl friend. I looked so happy, didn't I?

Wow. Isn't this picture amazing? This was taken on a beach near Batangas (outside of Manila, in the Philippines). Charles, Adam (a friend who was also traveling with us at that time) and I were lucky enough to find this beautiful spot on the beach after we had just been lost and driven around aimlessly for 5 hours searching for a way to the Tagaytay volcano. We were all pretty disappointed when we realized it was already too late by the time we figured out how we could get there so we decided that the best way to end the day was to chase the sun. That's when we stumbled upon this beach (we still don't know what it was called). We hung out on a floating beach hut with our San Miguels and watched as the sun set behind the volcano... Can somebody explain to me what that is - on the top left corner of this picture?

This photo was taken by a photographer friend who was visiting Singapore.  I may look calm and relaxed, but that rock I was laying on was not comfortable at all. And there were hella tiny little crabs on the sand, along with other sea creatures I could not name... I was freaking out. Priceless.

This was taken in Bali. We went surfing in the morning and then Charles took me horseback riding on the beach - something I've always wanted to do. The weather was perfect and the ocean was as beautiful as always. It was such a perfect day.

Which picture is the most priceless?

...because I am definitely joining the Fevo Photo Contest to win theiPhone or an iTouch!

It's so easy to win!

Join The Contest yourself and get your friends to vote for you!

The contest is from 1st Jan 2010 - 31 March 2010.

Look for a priceless moment in your photo album, it shouldn't be a task. We should all live by these moments.

You will need to purchase FEVO first if you don't already have one as you need the last 8 digits of your FEVO card (or your order number) to enter the contest.

Imagine paying the bill with a MasterCard that has your face on it. Pretty pimp, huh? Get a FEVO Prepaid MasterCard from and personalize your card face with your very own photo!

You can put in any amount into the card and use it to pay for purchases wherever MasterCard is accepted, just like a debit card. Ditch the boring old EZ-link card as you can use your FEVO to travel too!

Mr. Bean Fruity Soymilk

This morning I decided to try something different and got the Fruity Soymilk instead of the usual Pearly Soymilk (Soymilk with tapioca pearls) from Mr.Bean. It's a blend of fresh watermelon with soymilk and ice. Super refreshing and tastes so much better than coffee. I almost never drink coffee. It baffles me that some people would drink it every morning. It's funny to notice that these coffee addicts can't help but subconsciously cringe upon taking the first sip of that bitter coffee. Do you REALLY need it? Try a fruity soymilk instead!

Wakeboarding at Raffles Marina Singapore

I went wake-boarding for the first time last week with Charles and a few other friends. I knew it was going to be hard but it got so much easier and more fun once I figured how to get up from the board when the boat is moving.

At 10am on a Saturday morning: The sky was beautiful, I noticed.

A boat called 'Pink Pussy'and 'Over There'. Interesting names... If I had a boat, I'd name her 'VAMOS'. What would you name your boat?

Learning how to get up from the board the correct way... it's not as easily as it looks!

To be standing on the board is the best feeling ever! Just like surfing ;)
