Another Way To Enjoy Coke…

Coca-cola has always been known to come up with the best advertising and marketing strategies. It's a brand you'll think of when someone mentions "soda in a classic red can". If you know what's good for you and would rather stick to sky juice (aka water) than some sugar-loaded, carbonated drink, Coca-cola still has something for you: Nail polish.

Coke teamed up with Nails Inc. to create four shades, each named after fashionable cities: London, Paris, New York and Milan (left to right, above).

The nail polishes will be given away free with every purchase of two 500ml bottles of Diet Coke at Boots in England until June 30, and for those of us living stateside, you will soon be able to order the polish online at Asos.com, which has an ongoing partnership with Coca-Cola.

Smart. They know fashionistas and health junkies like me would NEVER touch an empty-calorie-filled real Coke.

Better Looks Without Lighting Up

Everyone should know the basic foundations for good health –

  1. Drink more water.
  2. Eat more fiber, greens and protein.
  3. Maintain an active lifestyle by exercising and/or doing a sports activity.
  4. Breathe cleaner air and help reduce air pollution by being more eco-friendly and not smoking.

Did you know that a 20 year old one-pack-a-day smoker may look like a 28 year old, due to the wrinkles, dry skin and a sallow, grayish complexion?

Here’s a good (but bad...and scary) example:

Not my most flattering picture but as you can see on the 2nd picture from the left, that is how I will look when I am a 55 year-old NON-SMOKER. The picture on the far right shows how I will look if I was a SMOKER. Scary, isn’t it? And of course, the picture on the far left shows how I look like now, a 22-year old non-smoker.

Smoking causes irreversible damage to your skin and long-term damage to your respiratory system such as narrowing of the lung airways. Love sports? Do you know any athlete who smokes? Nope!

It is believed that smoking provides temporary relaxation. Smokers feel they are able to bond with other smokers as they get together and talk while smoking. Those are the deluding “pros” of smoking.

Now the cons:

1. A non-smoker saves about $4,000 a tear more than someone who smokes a pack a day. (That’s a lot of shopping if you ask me!)

2.  Non-smokers are better kissers. Believe me ;) I have a friend who smokes and she brushes her teeth at least a few times a day because she can’t even stand the smell of her breath! It’s also not very presentable attend a meeting or talk to someone with a stank breath.

3. Non-smokers have better stamina… Better stamina = Better performance at the gym and in bed ;)

To prove that I know exactly what I’m saying, here’s something you’ll never see me doing again:

There was a time when I smoked! It’s something I am not proud to admit but I hope knowing this will motivate you to quit too. Do it and commit. If you maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, you’ll have no reason and no time to smoke.

Smoking KILLS. It’s printed clearly on every pack of cigarettes. What reason can you tell yourself and your body to ignore such a warning?

Enjoy better looks, better fitness, better spending power and a better environment without lighting up!

Purple Berry Smoothie

A delicious recipe that's healthy and good for you!

Purple Berry Smoothie

1 cup BLUEBERRIES
1 cup RASPBERRIES
1/2 cup PLAIN YOGURT
1/2 cup ICE CUBES (about 4 cubes)
1 tbsp HONEY (optional)

Blend all the ingredient and taste the goodness.

TIP: Use frozen fruit instead of fresh, and omit the ice. When fresh berries are out of season, frozen is the best choice. The berries will be sweeter and less expensive than out-of-season fresh berries.

TRY IT!

Busy as a Bee

I apologize for the lack of new articles and delay in replying your emails and comments for I have been swamped. A few subscribers of my newsletter may also be wondering what the hell happened to my weekly emails and I am so happy to hear that you actually miss it and look forward to reading it. The past 3-4 months have been busy for me since I started my first office job as graphic designer.

Sure, it has been both stressful & fun but most ultimately, I realized that I've been struggling to keep up with time and find it much harder to find the motivation to go to the gym after I get off work at 7pm every weekday. I still make it to muay thai on Tuesdays but I rarely make it to the gym on a weekday anymore.

But that doesn't mean I have gotten lazy. It hasn't stopped me from being active on the weekends when I usually catch up on sleep and work off those cream crackers I had been eating at my desk. I've probably gained about 3kg in the past months but I am ready to whip back into shape starting June 1st. Yes, you'll be hearing more from me again! So much has happened in a past 6 months which I wasn't sure if I should share about on my blog but I learned a few things from it which I am willing to spill. From a bad break-up to a recent eating disorder and finding a new sport that turned to be a favorite hobby and meeting someone really special and possibly moving out of Singapore by the end of summer... Well, there's really too many things me and you need to catch up. I'll write again soon. Thank you for being a loyal reader!

How I've been spending my weekends (besides a must-go-to-the-gym on Sundays):

Charles' mom was visiting from California for a few days. I made some hearty sandwiches, brought some snacks & had a picnic @ the Botanical Gardens. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I usually go there at about 430pm when the sun is not too hot... Weather feels perfect everytime.

White wine, orange juice, marshmallows, dino-gummies, Arnotts' biscuits, baby bels, turkey ham sandwich, mini Oreos & Spicy Nacho Doritos... my favorite foods!

Brunch @ Epicurious. I love it there!

Beach volleyball on Saturdays.

Beach fun @ The Shack's closing party.
