 THE INTERVIEW

So… what have you been up to lately?

I’ve just been keeping busy with work – hosting, writing and a bit of modeling.  Mainly focusing on my fitness and reading up on nutrition and exercise as I’m taking up a personal training course next year. It’s been about 2 years since I started my health & fitness blog and I’d like to challenge myself to do more – more than just sharing what I’ve learned, I want to teach, with professional credential.

Will you be back in Singapore soon?

I visit at least once or twice every month to catch up with friends and family. Plus, I have a couple of favorite salad bars that are worth coming back for! I find myself returning to Mescluns since I was introduced to it last year.

You’ve been doing a great job thus far at keeping fit and toned, but what are resolutions for the New Year resolutions, health-wise?

I definitely need to improve on managing my time more efficiently and make sure I get at least 6 hours of shut-eye. I have this bad habit of going to bed late even though I have to wake up at 6am everyday for work. I try to make up for it by taking naps but your body NEEDS that uninterrupted sleep to recharge and repair.

And in other respects?

I’d like to be more adventurous with food and take up cooking class. I know how to make simple, healthy dishes but it’s about time I learn how to cook proper Asian cuisines, like Thai. I could eat that everyday!

What are the obstacles you face while maintaining that great shape?

I struggle with running sometimes. It’s the most effective way to burn off those calories but I hate the treadmill, I really do.

How do you overcome them?

You can’t let any obstacles stand in the way of your goals. And my goal is to get fitter. Never take your eyes off your goal.

What advice do you have for youths out there who want to get in shape, but are on a tight budget?

Invest on a pair of good running or training shoes. If you can’t afford a gym membership or a personal trainer, read up and train outdoors. Running along the beach is great for building stamina and you can usually find a few exercise stations at public parks.

What spurs you on to regularly update your blog?

Seeing the number of returning visitors and readers who write in to share how my blog has helped to motivate them. It encourages me to keep writing and continue the fitness journey with them.

Who is your biggest idol now? Why?

Jennifer Nicole Lee. Besides that killer body, I love her vivacious attitude. She makes getting fit look so easy, which is really motivating.

What are your plans for the near future?

My big plans are still evolving but ultimately; To keep doing what I love, eventually building a dream home and my own gym, travel for inspiration, share my knowledge on fitness and starting up my own brand.

5 THINGS IT TAKES TO DATE FAY

Wear your best shoes – I always look at men’s shoes. Kind of like how most men like to see women in stilettos. I like the combination of dress shoes and dark denim.

Smell good – Gives me a good reason to lean closer when we talk.

Love the outdoors – Don’t even think about taking me to the mall or the movies on our first date. If the sun’s out, I prefer to do an outdoor activity or play sports instead. Being outdoors allows me to appreciate my surroundings as well as connect with my date.

Brave the chili – Bonus points if you can take spicy food. I’ve yet to meet a guy who can eat more chili padi than me.

Good taste in music – It’s okay if he’s not the sporty type, a good taste in music easily makes up for that. I like almost all genres, from hip-hop to dubstep and also rock and indie.
