9 Essentials In My Gym Bag

Bagspace.sg sent me an email a few weeks ago and asked if I could share "What's In My Bag", in response to my posts about "What's In Your Shopping Cart?". So here it is! My favorite bag of the moment is this Faux Leather Shoulder Bag (COACH-inspired) from YesStyle.com . I love that you can carry it on your arm, over your shoulder or even as a sling bag (it comes with a changeable strap). In fact, I love it so much that I have another one in baby blue (no longer available).

IN this bag, you will find at least 9 of my bag essentials...

1. Tiffany & Co. aviator shades - I've had this for a year now and it goes with everything I wear, can't go wrong with it.
2. Adidas water bottle - Gotta make sure I stay hydrated!
3. Adidas training gloves - Wouldn't want the smell of iron or skin peeling on my palm when I'm doing weight training...
4. iPod Shuffle + headphones - Music keeps me pumped when working out.
5. Shiseido powder + brush - Just so my face won't shine like a mirror...
6. Bath & Bodyworks hand sanitizer (Japanese Cherry Blossom) - Do you have any idea how dirty public place (or even your own home) can be? Best to keep your hand sanitized, especially if you have a habit of touching your face or eating/picking food with your hand.
7. Abercrombie & Fitch '8' Perfume - My favorite scent!
8. Victoria's Secret body lotion (Honeysuckle Belle) - Daily moisturizing keeps your skin firm, healthy, and smelling good.
9. FOCAL Deodorant from Boots... - This is the best deodorant, ever! I always get my friends to get this for me when they visit Thailand. I wished they had Boots here. They have a few quality house-brand products. This deodorant spray in particular is great because it's fragrance-free, hypo-allergenic and all natural (Ingredients: Alum, Allantoin, Niacinamide, Propylene Glycon, Aqua) - it's almost like spraying water, except you'll smell good all day

Here's me carrying my favorite bag standing out my favorite sushi restaurant in KL!
I’m A Star Wars Jedi for Halloween 2010 in KL
Last year, I dressed up as slave Princess Leia for Halloween in Singapore so this year I decided to dress a little more conservatively since I heard that Malaysians don't really dress up for Halloween (or any special events for that matter)! I had all the time to even make my own costume for the Princess Leia outfit (Read: Making My Own Halloween Costume 2009) but this year I got kinda lazy so I just rented instead...
Slave Princess Leia, 2009
The Jedi who killed Darth and stole his lightsaber, 2010
The costume store only had Darth's lightsaber left so I didn't have much choice. The total rent for our costume was RM170 and it came with 2 Jedi tunics, 2 pants, 2 Jedi robes, 2 sashes, 1 lightsaber and a pair of boots. Not bad, I think! Charles obviously made advanced planning and ordered his lightsaber a few months ago on Firebox.com ¬_¬

I somehow convinced Dawn to come to KL for Halloween and she stayed with me on Saturday night and flew back to Singapore on Sunday morning. She came solely to party with us on Halloween but we were all pretty disappointed in the Halloween spirit here in KL... Nothing beats Halloween anywhere in the States. FANTASYFEST in Key West, I missed you!
Helenness, in the other Wonder Woman outfit, dressed up for Halloween for the first time (a fine example that Malaysians don't dress for Halloween)
I'm so happy to have picked out your first costume, Helen!

Our favorite photo of the night taken in the lift of my apartment!
As you can see from the top left corner in the photo below - MOST OF THE GUYS who went to Zouk on Saturday night didn't dress up.
The people who DID dress up were mostly girls... (and talents who were paid by Zouk).
Costume of the night goes to the girl who dressed up as Katy Perry in 'California Gurls' with giant cupcakes as her bra top... I wasn't expecting that one!

We had another friend who also came as a Jedi... It made me wished we had a whole group of Star Wars characters - Jedis, Luke Skywalker, Storm Troopers, Darth, Princess Leia, Yoda and ALL!

We MADE the party that night, it almost didn't feel like Halloween at all when we entered Phuture (sure, Zouk had all the decorations but the spirit -no pun intended- wasn't there)...

Did you see Heidi Klum's extravagant and totally over the top ALIEN TRANSFORMER outfit she wore for her annual Halloween party in New York? It made me wonder - did she hold in her pee throughout the whole event? I mean, that outfit isn't exactly an easy slip on, slip off...

She and her husband, Seal always has the craziest costumes... Gotta love their enthusiasm!
What was the most interesting Halloween costume you saw this year?
Dinner at The Hill, A Birthday Party at Aristo & The DKNY/Belvedere Fashion Meets Music Party…
The Hill
The Hill is a new al fresco bar in Bukit Damansara (KL) that everyone has been talking about lately since its launch earlier this month. Cay organized a small dinner & drinks session to welcome her boyfriend, Simon, who is visiting KL all the the way from Netherlands. The sheltered outdoor restaurant had a lovely view and warm atmosphere but the creative presentation of the drinks they served at the bar was the most interesting and unique part about it all. Each of us had a taste of all the special drinks in the menu: Weed Killer (a strong concoction that Charles took down) is only for the brave, Bamboo tasted like sweet jelly to me and the Milo Rum was a favorite amongst the girls (kinda like Baileys). They had just started serving a small selection of Japanese food (can't say no to that!) but I must say, it's the drinks that makes this place brings its appeal.

Aristo
Aristo is a club (similar to Le Noir, in Clarke Quay/Singapore) right next to Zouk, on the second floor, that I went to for a friend's birthday party. It was a suitable place for a private party because the place isn't huge which makes it easier to mingle with your guests and the music isn't too loud but good enough to keep the energy up. There were definitely a few Moet bottles poppin' that night!

DKNY X Belvedere Fashion Meets Music Party
After such a teaser of the DKNY Fall 2010 Collection at Fashion Meets Music Party held at Rootz in September, DKNY and Belvedere collaborate once again to bring another glamorous and ultra-exclusive party cum fashion show held at TUDM Museum Hangar in Sungei Besi (KL). Definitely felt the exclusivity of the party mainly because it was held at a hangar, and no one complained about all the servers decked out in pilot outfits!

Gray platform pumps by Zahir from YesStyle.com . (Quicktip: I'm a US Size 6.5/7 so I usually go for size 245 when shopping for shoes on YesStyle. Hope this helps!)

Doesn't the blue bomber jacket remind you of Back To The Future 2?

Puffy's Faux-Fur Trim Hooded Jacket from YesStyle comes in a similar style
I especially liked the brown boots donned by the girl in the far right. Très chic!
Dresses vs Skirts + Tops
My YesStyle package came last week and I am so lovin' this baby blue top+floral print skirt outfit! I've always been a one piece dress kinda girl because it's complete and easy and throw on but recently I've been shopping for more skirts and tops and have found it to be more rewarding to mix and match. Am I just spoiled or do you also dread wearing the same dress twice?
Set: Ruffled Blouse + Floral Print Skirt
Mix + Match! I paired the ruffled blouse with a navy blue mini skirt and a beret for a more preppy look.
Country girl: The floral print skirt with an off-shoulder white top and a tie-up belt is more girly and was exactly what I wore to a casting today. Love it!
P.S. Speaking of floral, have you seen this new music video by Rihanna called 'Only Girl (In The World)'? It's my favorite track of the week, check it out!

Advertorial

Flared jeans. Mini-skirts. Platform shoes. Following the hippie-inspired fashion of the sixties, when it comes to 70's fashion, it's the discovery of a flower child and the disco ball.

MANGO’s latest collection is giving the classic 70’s style items a modern feel. Plaid shirts, old denim, mini skirts and floral maxi dresses are some basic wardrobe necessities to the part.

5 Sexy Female Celebs In Their Gymwear
I love watching what Hollywood celebrities wear to the gym. Previously, I wrote '5 Gym Styles of The Sexiest Celebrities', well I simply can't get enough so here are 5 more! This reminds me, I need to buy new training shoes... I've been using my Asics for 2 years now! What brand would you recommend?

Sophie Monk has a great figure. The 5"6' Australian actress and singer sure knows how to maintain her figure by doing some cardio! I've always been a fan of the fold-over waistband yoga pants. I have 3 at home!
For some reason I've always thought Cameron Diaz was petite but apparently she's 5'9"! I love that white hooded jacket she's sporting.
Eva Longoria may be petite (she's 5'2") but she's in such a great shape that she's even modeling for BEBE Sport.

Reese Witherspoon, another petite actress (5'2") keeps it simple and casual in gray and black.
Spotted: Shakira and Reese Witherspoon (above, right) sporting similar NIKE spandex!
Shakira is another living proof that you don't have to be built tall and skinny like a model to have a great body. She's only 5'2" but any girl would still want a body like hers.

My New Favorite Dress
Went for dinner at Alexis yesterday, in The Gardens (KL) and partied a little bit at G6 - nothing crazy, just consumed a lot of whiskey and water. I paid for it at the gym today, so I don't feel bad about those mini wantons and roasted duck I had, they were delicious, by the way. Alexis Restaurant reminded me of PS Cafe a little bit - but much better.
The Gardens Mall is like Paragon but bigger, and better. In fact, I honestly think there's a bigger variety when it comes to shopping in KL compared to Singapore. I've never seen a Roxy store as big as the one at Pavilion and hell ~ it's not just shopping, but there's Baskin-Robbins at almost every mall!
I haven't had any Baskin-Robbins or tried Papa Johns yet, but maybe I will on one of my cheat meals. I even resisted the free donuts at Krispy Kreme yesterday. (FYI: From July 13-16th, buy 1 dozen and get half dozen chocolate or vanilla cake FREE at Krispy Kreme!) My advice: Resist it or limit to 1 and tell 'em you'd rather waste it than waist it. As good as it looks, don't eat more than 1 of them tasty little buggers!
Anyway, all the resistance (and resistance training), cardio, low-carbs and weight-training have been doing good... I've lost 4kg! Hooray! I intend to lose another 1-2kgs to get back in the shaped and safe zone.
P.S.: Dear KL-ers, Anyone know of a good water purifier to recommend/suggest? - Either a manual (one where you'd have to manually add water yourself) or an automatic (one that is attached to the pipe).
(Dress from YesStyle, and I am wearing a size 66.)
5 Gym Styles of The Sexiest Celebrities – Working Out And Looking Good
Most Hollywood celebrities may have the luxury of hiring a personal trainer for their everyday workout, but that doesn’t mean they never work out on their own. It takes a lot of self-discipline to sweat it out on your own, so remember, that if you’re not working out as hard as you should, you’re only cheating yourself.
We all work out for 2 main reasons: To look good and feel good. It’s only practical to skip the hair and make-up when you’re about to sweat your butt off (Hey, why bother? You do NOT want to be labeled The Make-Up Queen.)
Read: http://awkwardworkouts.com/
Let 9 of hottest female celebs show you how to look good without all that make-up and hair.
#1
Jessica Alba vs Maria Menounos
Who works out without music? Not me! Neither does Jessica Alba (the sexy star of ‘Into The Blue’ with to-die-for beach bod) or Maria Menounos (eye-candy from Kickin’ It Old Skool) either.
Both these Hollywood babes are look cool and lean with sweatpants and a tanktop/sports bra while rocking to some work out jam. Looking for a hot sports bra like Maria’s?
#2
Victoria Beckham vs Reese Witherspoon
Victoria Beckham (former Spice Girl aka Posh Spice) and Reese Witherspoon (star of ‘Legally Blonde’) choose to go dark and opt for a black sports top and capris (my personal favorite). When you know you’re going to sweat a bucket, it’s wise to wear black! A basic, simple look that never fails if you’re going for comfort and sexy.
#3
Jessica Biel vs Renee Zellweger
Jessica Biel (tough cookie in ‘A-Team’ and sweetheart from long-running family-drama series TV series 7th Heaven) probably has the best body in Hollywood. She works out 5 days a week – mixing cardio, weight training, yoga and recreational sports such as hiking to break up the monotony of going to the gym.
Both Jessica and Renee Zellweger avoid unsightly tan lines on their arms and back by wearing long sleeves and protect their faces from the damages of too much sun exposure with a cute red baseball cap.
#4
Fergie vs Jessica Biel
Fergie (the sexy female vocalist from Black Eyed Peas) keeps her hands free with a water belt – a must-have hydration gear, whether you’re a long distance runner or someone who just likes jogging around with block without clutching a clunky bottle in one hand. Ever had your ear plugs slip off while you’re running and finding it hard to keep it in your ear? Time to invest on a pair of headphones too!
Here’s Jessica Biel again after a work-out at the gym proving why tight capri pants is a wise choice if you’ll be doing hip abductions or the side cruncher. (Read: http://awkwardworkouts.com/) Unless you’re going out for a breezy run outdoors, stick to tight capri or yoga pants!
#5
Ashley Tisdale vs Jessica Simpson
It’s back to basics for Ashley Tisdale and Jessica Simpson as they head outdoors for a run in comfy cotton top and shorts. It's impossible to go wrong with this combo.
Which one of these celebrities has the sexiest work out style?
* * * * *
My Personal Work-Out Style
This is my basic look if I’m only doing cardio (i.e. running, elliptical or spinning class). I choose to wear a sweater over my sports bra so I can easily take it off to cool down when I need to.
Here’s a little motivation to get you ready to wear a nice sports bra! Show off your back and mid-section with this halter sports bra from YesStyle.com
For weight-training, I prefer to wear my black capri yoga pants and black t-shirt. Gloves are a must if you don’t want rough hands! Nobody likes the smell of rustic iron on their hands from lifting those bar bells or dumb bells either. For less distraction, I usually ditch the phone and use my iPod shuffle because it’s compact and doesn’t get in the way.
Everyday I’m hustlin’! Work out hard, stay focused and keep fit! Like my Hustler shirt?
* * * * *
What NOT to wear to the gym…
The shirt and the bottom go well together, but I don’t think those shoes are suitable for the gym!
Just kiddin’!
