The Secret Of Getting Ahead…

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.

- Mark Twain

Are you ready for 2011?

I've decided to surprise you with the *new blog* a day in advanced (also because, realistically speaking, I will be out partying on New Year's eve...)!

How do you like it? I have so much planned for 2011 and I can't wait to share it with you on my blog.

Thank you to my loyal readers who keep me stoked and always wanting to learn and share new things on this blog. This blog is for you as much as it is for me.

I am soooo ready for 2011, which seems to be yet another promising year for the Rabbit (holla to those born in '87)!

2010's resolution was to 'Be One With Nature', in 2011 it will be all about 'Progress For Success' ;)

Happy New Year Everyone! Enjoy the fireworks. I will be back to motivate (/torture) you in the new year.

Busy as a Bee

I apologize for the lack of new articles and delay in replying your emails and comments for I have been swamped. A few subscribers of my newsletter may also be wondering what the hell happened to my weekly emails and I am so happy to hear that you actually miss it and look forward to reading it. The past 3-4 months have been busy for me since I started my first office job as graphic designer.

Sure, it has been both stressful & fun but most ultimately, I realized that I've been struggling to keep up with time and find it much harder to find the motivation to go to the gym after I get off work at 7pm every weekday. I still make it to muay thai on Tuesdays but I rarely make it to the gym on a weekday anymore.

But that doesn't mean I have gotten lazy. It hasn't stopped me from being active on the weekends when I usually catch up on sleep and work off those cream crackers I had been eating at my desk. I've probably gained about 3kg in the past months but I am ready to whip back into shape starting June 1st. Yes, you'll be hearing more from me again! So much has happened in a past 6 months which I wasn't sure if I should share about on my blog but I learned a few things from it which I am willing to spill. From a bad break-up to a recent eating disorder and finding a new sport that turned to be a favorite hobby and meeting someone really special and possibly moving out of Singapore by the end of summer... Well, there's really too many things me and you need to catch up. I'll write again soon. Thank you for being a loyal reader!

How I've been spending my weekends (besides a must-go-to-the-gym on Sundays):

Charles' mom was visiting from California for a few days. I made some hearty sandwiches, brought some snacks & had a picnic @ the Botanical Gardens. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I usually go there at about 430pm when the sun is not too hot... Weather feels perfect everytime.

White wine, orange juice, marshmallows, dino-gummies, Arnotts' biscuits, baby bels, turkey ham sandwich, mini Oreos & Spicy Nacho Doritos... my favorite foods!

Brunch @ Epicurious. I love it there!

Beach volleyball on Saturdays.

Beach fun @ The Shack's closing party.

Sun. Surf. Sea.

I just got back from Bali last night and survived a whole week without internet access. It's good to know that I'm not obsessed or dependent on the 'www'! Forget Wavehouse (period), I've finally surfed some real waves ! I also got a chance to go horse back riding on the beach - something I've always wanted to do. I can finally take learning to surf and riding a horse on the beach off my bucket list...

Watching the sunset on my last day in Bali - Double Six Beach

Living the dream.

I'd highly recommend going to Rip Curl School of Surf in Bali (Jl. Double Six) if you wish to learn how to surf. I love that they even have a photographer to take photos of you while you try to catch your first wave. I look pretty dorky with that helmet on, but hey, at least I'm covered by insurance!

Horseback riding along the beach, near Ku De Ta. I learnt how to trot the horse, it was challenging at first as you try to figure out the momentum, but I managed to get a hang of it! My buttcheeks were sore for a couple of days after that though... but it was worth it!

Shisha is only about S$3 here. I can't believe I've been paying between S$10-$20 in Singapore! They had bubblegum on the menu but it was out of stock! I would've so loved to try that out.

Dinner @ Rumours with friends who are working & living in Bali. A chill, laid-back restaurant with a funky vibe. I liked their choice of music - they start off with alternative/rock and gradually moving in to house/trance. FashionTV showing on the 2 plasma tellies add to the cool factor of this restaurant. Oh and yes, I had pizza & margarita. Life is good!

Thank God It’s Friday!

Good morning! I just wanted to write a post & leave a little note before the weekend. I have a feeling it's going to be a long but fun weekend for me. I'm going to Wavehouse again!

And today, I am booked for a shoot, yay!

Making My Own Halloween Costume 2009

Halloween is my favorite event of the year because this is the time when everyone can dress up as their alter ego or put on a character... which makes partying more than twice as fun.

I wished I was in Key West, FL, where they have Fantasy Fest and everyone dresses up everyday for the whole week of Halloween. Then again, partying in Singapore is also fun, especially when you have all your friends to celebrate it with you. My sister came back to Singapore for 4 days before going back to Tokyo on Sunday. Both of us didn't enjoy staying in Singapore very much while we were growing up here, but after traveling/living in other countries, we really began to appreciate it so much more... ♥

Anyway, last year's (2008) Halloween at Mimolette was so much fun... I dressed up as a military nurse:

I bought the costume in Bangkok (Platinum Wholesale Shopping Mall) for about S$50. It's funny how you won't find a sex store in Bangkok but they sell so many sexy costumes such as this for a much lower price than what you will find at any other sex stores. I have about 20 costumes, some I've already worn but still intend to keep, and some that are just waiting to be worn for the perfect occasion. What can I say? I love themed parties.

I was really getting bored of all the costumes I saw online so I came up with an ingenious idea of making my own.

-  FRIDAY NIGHT HALLOWEEN DRESS-UP -

My inspiration?

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin:

Dawn tagged a photo of Princess Jasmine as me on Facebook a while back and after watching the DVD again recently, it's hard not to want to be a princess for a day. Hehe.

That cartoon is then translated to...

Aladdin & Princess Jasmine

I bought the chiffon fabric from a store on Arab Street for just $3/m. The bikini is from River Island (which I already had initially), earrings  from Diva (S$15) and the blue jewel piece is from Spotlight.

My sister (was dressed as a wine lady a.k.a. 'Fine Red Wine') and I went to Mimolette on Friday night for the 'Asian Damnation' party (Asian horror theme). Even Aladdin was there! ;)

Alot of people were dressed up, considering it was only the eve of Halloween. I love how Mimolette always never fail to surprise me for Halloween.

My sister, Alyssa, & I dropped by Butterfactory before going home (it was along the way, really) and I don't remember seeing anyone there dressed up that Friday night...

- SATURDAY NIGHT HALLOWEEN DRESS-UP -

My inspiration?

Slave Princess Leia from Star Wars:

Obi-Wan Kenobi & Princess Leia

I bought the chiffon fabric from Spotlight for $9.95/m! I am never going back there again. If you want to buy cheap fabric to make your costume, go to Arab Street. It's like a treasure hunt! The gold bikini & belt are from a shop at Far East Plaza, snake earrings are from Diva, boots are from YesStyle.com and the (Victoria's Secret) silk robe was something I already had. I made the neck chain thing with a slim gold belt and some gold chain.

5 of my friends (4 of them are DJs) and I organized a junk boat party to kickstart our Halloween night. It's probably the first ever junk boat party in Singapore. Junk boat parties are huge in Hong Kong & San Francisco and unlike these countries, it's summer in Singapore all year long, so this is definitely something that is needed to make our nightlife more interesting. We had about 140 of our close friends and we all had a great time. It drizzled a bit and I was so sad that we didn't manage to catch the sunset. However, we did get to see the beautiful fireworks and colorful musical fountain show at the Sentosa. I hope everyone had a splendid time!

And yeah, Chris and the guy on the far left are dressed up as the characters from the movie 'The Hangover".

After the cruise, we went to stereolab for more fun.

After stereolab, a group of friends and I headed to Butterfactory to catch up with some friends.

Obviously, these guys were inspired by their own bedroom. The Hoover Vacuum Girl came up to me and said she was a fan of my blog. How sweet :) ...and what a creative idea!

This was taken at about 1.30am. Alyssa had a flight back to Tokyo to catch at 6am :(

It was so crowded at Butterfactory and EVERYBODY was dressed up. Oh, I love Halloween.
